Has anyone confirmed that the gas nozzle used in the Defender will also work in the Liberty as Jeff suggests? Or anyone source the WDA nozzle?

This thread should be made a "sticky" at the top so it is always available.

Jeff's site was excellent! I have my unit apart.

I was wondering how to test the thermocouple (thermistor?) for ohms. Will I need to peel back the black plastic covering the wires at the attachment site on the aluminum tube? Also noticed the tube (thermocouple) it is corroded somewhat. Can I clean it with steel wool?

Thanks

Steve

Just unplug the wires from the controller board and attach your meter probe. Note the cold resistance reading, should be around 200 kOhm. Then use a lighter to heat up the black pellet a bit, the resistance should decrease as it warms up. When it's hot it should be around 25k or so. See Jeff's site for details. I'd leave the tube alone.

Has anyone tried to repair the ccatalytic converter in the Defender?

Replacemant Defender Ignitors

"The glo-stix® flat element consists of a tungsten wire element fused between two Silicon Nitride plates"
This is a quote from the nitride source which confirms that it is a hot surface type igniter and not a spark ignition type
