Catalytic Converter Beads

Postby volvosrus-1 on Tue Jun 16, 2009 10:29 am

Good Morning, Does anyone know where I can get replacement catalytic converter beads (platinum / palladium coated ceramic) for my 12-year old original Commercial Pro. Thank you, Bob Ault 772-345-2092

Bob,

Did you ever get a lead on replacement beads? I'm wondering what made you conclude the beads are bad. How did you test the cat? I have a Liberty Plus that runs but doesn't attract many mosquitos, I suspect it could be that cat but with these MMs it could be anything.

A shop that rebuilds cats for the auto industry might be a source of beads if they are willing to sell to the general public.

Russ,

My old commercial pro uses beads...your liberty plus uses a honeycomb type catalytic converter (which is much more modern and durable). The majority of the platinum is gone from my beads..your unit isn't be susceptable to this problem. Relative to your liberty plus...I assume you have quick cleared the nozzle, replace your net within the last several months, replace the octanol attractant each month, properly place your unit.

Good Luck, Bob

My two Liberty Pluses are 2004 units, and both have bead-based cats. Maybe MM changed the design at some point? (My circa 2005 Defender uses a honeycomb style cat BTW).

Anyway, my original question stands :-)
